Apparatus Operator - Emergency Vehicle Operation Course

**DATE CHANGE** Apparatus Operator - Emergency Vehicle Operation course will be offered on April 4, 11, 14, 18, 26 and 28 at Copenhagen Fire Station 7 pm.

Provides vehicle operators with a better understanding of the seriousness of emergency vehicle operation. Based on objectives from National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator, Chapter 2, this course stimulates the thought processes to make students aware of the potential for tragedy and financial loss and of the legal and moral responsibilities encountered when operating an emergency vehicle.

Minimum Number of Students 10

Maximum Number of Students: 20

Designed for: Fire service personnel

Prerequisite: A valid driver’s license

Course Length: 18 hours

Live Fire Training NFPA 1403, 2012 Edition Course

Live Fire Training – NFPA 1403, 2012 Edition course will be offered on April 12 at New Bremen Fire Station at 6:30 pm.

The purpose and intent of this course is to provide the student with basic understanding of the requirements of NFPA 1403 Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions. It is intended that the student be provided with an introduction to the necessary knowledge and tools to properly prepare and conduct live fire-training evolutions. This program provides an in-depth analysis of NFPA 1403, addressing evolutions at municipal training centers, gas fired training buildings and exterior props, vehicle fires and acquired structures and exterior class B fires. It is also designed to provide an overview of live fire training requirements, especially for responsible individuals such as commissioners and chiefs who may not be directly involved with the conduct or planning of these evolutions, but with whom may rest the ultimate responsibility for training within their jurisdiction.

Minimum Number of Students 0

Maximum Number of Students: 30

Designed for: Commissioners, chief officers, presidents, members of boards of directors and elected officials who may have legal authority and responsibility for fire department live fire training activities and those who actually conduct live fire evolutions.

Fire Police Review Class - April 26

THE LEWIS COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIRE POLICE ASSOC.

4 hour FIRE POLICE Review Class - April 26th  @ 6:30 pm @ the Constableville Fire Station

This review class will consist of Fire Police Review covering Traffic Controls, Scene Safety Practices and Procedures, Current Laws & Equipment pertaining to Fire Police and the Coordination with Fire Service and other Fire Agencies.  Prepare now for the next generation in the Fire Service and the changes that we face-protecting our fellow brothers, sisters, and Equipment as well as the General Public.  Presentation will include the 12 Cones of Safety and the new Rural Road Traffic practices.  Safer video to present the changes in the Move-0ver Laws and other information to refresh what we need to be doing out there.

Apparatus Operator - Pump Course

Apparatus Operator - Pump course will be offered on May 2, 3, 10, 12, 16, 18, 24, and 26 at Copenhagen Fire Station 6:30 pm.

Offers knowledge and skills essential to pump operation. Based on objectives from National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator, Chapter 3, this course includes responsibilities of pump operators, hydraulics and friction loss, pump controls and accessories, fire streams, pumper practices, pumping from draft and pump evolutions, and using the fire pump at the fire hydrant. Demonstrations and practice sessions are included.

Minimum Number of Students 10

Maximum Number of Students: 16

Designed for: Fire service personnel

Prerequisite: Scene Support Operations, Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) or Firefighter-1

Course Length: 24 hours
